I have always been more than giving when it comes to teaching what I have learned and experienced in the industry: the ups and downs as well as what is needed to succeed. Teaching someone and seeing them advance and get better is a great feeling to give as well as experience.
I am a graduate of The School of Visual Arts and learned graphic novel art under comic legends Walter Simonson (Thor) and Joe Orlando (MAD Magazine). I am also a self-published comic creator and I have done work for Dynamite Entertainment and Top Cow Comics. I have also worked in Film and Television as a Storyboard Artist.
I love the idea of having a 1-on-1 with a student as I had when I was in school and when I worked with other artists and learned from them. My deepest hope is to give and teach as much as I know to help the upcoming artist see what is needed to make the best work possible and then improve on that. Art is a matter of perspective but no matter what it takes time and dedication. I hope to provide inspiration and knowledge to the student.
I specialize in illustration, drawing, graphic design, comic and cartoon art as well as Photoshop Digital Coloring and Inking. I also teach digital pre-press and lettering.
The overall goal for each lesson is for the student to be inspired in their own talents as well as explore and push further their abilities by looking and learning from various other art forms and artists, and also to build upon what they are doing at the moment and take in critiques and different ways of approaching a project.
I do give assignments periodically depending on the level of the student and I give full critiques on their work in order for them to see their progress and where they need to put more work in to improve.
I am generally available from 10am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday. If need be we can work out a schedule. My fee is $50.00 per 3 hour in person session. I can travel to meet up with you.
I look forward to hearing from you and help you achieve your best and be successful as an artist. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
