Hello! My name is Ian. I graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor's Degree in International Affairs. Since then, I switched careers and now work as a paramedic, which I have been doing for about 8 years. I am also a veteran, and deployed as a medic to Afghanistan. I am currently working on my pre-requisites for Physician's Assistant school as well. Outside of work, I live with my wife and fur baby (dog).

I work with students in a variety of subjects. I have previous tutoring experience with test preparation and writing through Wyzant from years ago, when I was in college. I currently work with EMT, Paramedic, and healthcare students in a number of areas, including NREMT test preparation and the core NREMT learning/teaching modules. I truly enjoy seeing my students succeed, as well as helping future EMS providers become accomplished and knowledgeable professionals.

My goal in my tutoring is to help build a student's knowledge framework, and help them use it to extrapolate through a problem. I enjoy discussion-based teaching, as well as using a single problem or set to explore several concepts to ensure my students are maximizing their time spent with me. I want to ensure that a student walks away from a tutoring session feeling more prepared than before. I tutor to make sure the student has met their learning objective for the session, and not simply getting as many questions right as possible.

I am fairly flexible with my times and formats for tutoring, and I openly encourage feedback and critique from students and parents. If you have questions, concerns, or are exploring getting tutoring sessions for yourself or a loved one, please feel free to reach out to me. Hope to hear from you soon!

Knowledge and Patient Tutor

This review is long overdue! First off, Ian is the best! He knows his stuff and of course very patient. I struggled with the NREMT but, with his help my next attempt on the exam I passed! I felt really confident walking out of the test center. Let him know your weak areas, and ask questions! He will get you where you need to be hands down. I couldn't be more happy with his encouragement and guidance! #TeamIan! #CertifiedEMT!

Super Smart

Ian made the math click! Thank you for helping me when I was stuck. You helped me see math in a different way than I was taught. More practical. I will certainly know where to go for math help.

Patient and Personable

My son needed help with the NREMT. Ian provided him with test taking tips, knowledge, and above all, confidence. Thank you, Ian! They worked very hard together and it paid off. I am proud to say, not only did he pass, he passed with flying colors!

excellent tutor...saw instant improvement

I went to Ian with an issue regarding one specific portion of the NREMT. We did a 2 hour session where he really tried to figure out where I was lacking. I went from barely passing to above passing on my second attempt. He's patient, he listens and he breaks things down in a way that even a toddler would understand the most complex of subjects.

Diversity in the workplace

Ian helped me get my thoughts organized and on paper. He helped me put difficult information into words in a PowerPoint format. Ian also, helped me cite references for my PowerPoint and notes.

knowledgable and Excellent Tutor

Ian is a great tutor, he is very patient and knows the material very well. He will break down your material and let you understand it before moving on. He makes sure that you are well equipped with everything before leaving. He is excellent

Patient and adaptive

Ian is a very patient tutor that will help you work your way through the questions. He's been very good at finding NREMT style questions. And in regards to being adaptive, Ian really good at picking up what areas I lack in and basing the lesson plan off of my weaknesses. I can I am getting better in my weaknesses and he has helped me grow confidence in challenging the NREMT.

Prepared and Patient

Ian is someone who would be great to help you with the NREMT; he's prepared with material on whatever it is you tell him you need help with, very knowledgable, breaks down the material in a way that works best for your learning style, patient and understanding. He really lets you think, doesnt go and give you any hint or answer right away (which is good especially if you're going to become a paramedic) but its great cause it really makes what you're having trouble with stick to your mind.
