I am a passionate and enthusiastic English Language Arts teacher who constantly seeks to make learning meaningful, relevant, and fun! When teaching, I like to use discovery and project based learning because I believe when students are able to co-construct their own learning experiences, learning will be more meaningful and retention will be greater. I have a great deal of experience using varied literacy strategies, and I will work tirelessly to find the ones that work for your child!
I obtained my B.A. from SUNY Cortland with a major in English and a minor in Secondary Education in 2003. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
