Hello! My name is Brian and I am a former high school math teacher licensed by the state of North Carolina. I have worked with students of all ages, ranging from middle school to college. I have 6 years of experience tutoring both math and science and working as a grader/teaching assistant for many classes. I earned my B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and my B.S. in Mathematics from Liberty University in May 2012. Currently, I am a graduate student pursuing my Masters degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. I use many approaches when tutoring students to make learning clear and understandable. Because of my age, students find that I am able to relate with them easily and show them "shortcuts" to solving problems and learning basic science and math skills. I am happy to work in public locations or at a student's home. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I am very down-to-earth and would be happy to work with any student that is willing to learn! Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience tutoring differential equations at the college level. I used to grade homework projects for the class. In addition, I took a course on ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations. The course included boundary points, making it more inclusive than the introduction to differential equations seen in the second sequence of calculus.
