University of Maryland, College Park (Economics)
Hello. I am an undergraduate student at UMD looking to tutor students taking Microeconomics (ECON200). I took the course myself and earned an A in the class without having to stress over the subject too much. I excel in beginner economics and can easily explain concepts to students who want to improve their grades in the course. I believe that even one good hour of learning about economics can help a student memorize the information for years, and be able to apply it not only to tests and schoolwork but to everyday life. I have a good grasp of the fundamentals and I like to start from there when attempting to explain a concept to students.
I offer low-priced tutoring to students for three reasons: 1) I believe that those who need tutoring should not have to pay the high rates that most skilled tutors charge. 2) I am excited to offer tutoring services to the greatest number of people who need them, and offering lower prices will appeal to the greatest number of consumers. (Economic concept!) 3) As a current undergraduate student who has yet to take more advanced courses in the subject, I can't and won't try to get top dollar on the market.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
