Hi, I am Deena! I love teaching Spanish and want to help you achieve your language goals!

I graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Language Education and Spanish. I also graduated from CUNY Brooklyn College with a Master's degree in Spanish Language and Literature. My NYS professional teaching certifications are in Spanish (grades 7-12) and Spanish (grades 1-6 extension). I have also had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.

I have been teaching Spanish for 11 years. I have taught middle school, high school and college level Spanish courses. I have helped hundreds of students reach their fluency goals!

I find that using a communicative/storytelling approach is the most effective way to acquire a language. We can use many authentic resources such as stories, children's books, chapter books, short stories, poems, songs, videos and much more. We can also have discussions, practice conversation role playing, and complete interactive activities. We will work on listening, reading, speaking and writing activities. We can work on exam preparation or any specific topics that you would like help with!

I can also help with foreign language methods courses (ex. lesson planning, curriculum planning, etc). I can also help with Spanish grammar, culture and literature courses.
