Hello! My name is Andrea P. I have been teaching full time for the past four years. Before that I was a substitute teacher for two years. There is no other job that I could see myself doing. Since I was in first grade, I have wanted to teach. That was all because of my teacher. I look to inspire children in all aspects of their lives.
Not only do I teach children academics, but life lessons as well. I believe all students are able to succeed at something in their lives. I do not have a lot of experience tutoring, but I have a great wealth of resources and experience when it comes to interventions in common core math and ELA.
I would be willing to work with any students k-6 on any skill from reading to math to test taking skills.
I have a Master's as a Literate Specialist. I took the time to work with elementary students on basic skills such as phonics, letter sounds, and grammar. I also worked on enriching students with more challenging texts, increased vocabulary, and deeper level questioning.
I have taught the NYS Common Core Math Modules for the past two years. I am very familiar with what types of questions they ask. I also have access to resources to help parents who are struggling with the Common Core transition.
For the past six years I have been in elementary school classrooms. My first job was as an ELA teacher in a sixth grade classroom. For the past two years I have taught fourth grade, both special education and non.
As said before, I believe all students can succeed at something. I look forward to working with some students and seeing them grow! Hello! My name is Andrea P. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
