Thank you for considering me for your English tutoring needs!

My name is Haley and I have a passion for helping both adults and children succeed in learning English as a Second Language.

I have been teaching for over 10 years, and during this time have discovered that English is not a one-size-fits all learning experience. Every student has different strengths and needs, and so as your teacher, I will meet you where you are in your journey.

Through earning my Master's Degree in Education at The College of Saint Rose, I learned to be adaptive and in tune to the varying needs of students, and to use extensive tools in education, such as phonics, creative writing strategies and test taking and organizational skills to help students achieve their goals.

Through fun, creative lessons we will work on skills like:

Vocabulary & Sentence Building
Phonics & Pronunciation
Speaking & Listening
Reading & Writing
Cultural Variations

Whether you are trying to improve pronunciation to be more successful at work, becoming a better reader and writer to obtain citizenship, or are just starting out with basic vocabulary (grocery shopping, making appointments, trips to the post office), I'm confident I can help you to reach whatever goals are important to you.

I have confidence in my ability to help you succeed. You will enjoy English while becoming empowered through learning! I have been described as charismatic, patient and knowledgeable, and am able provide you with some great resources to work with, like podcasts and lessons through ESL Library.

Adult learners: I have an understanding of your perseverance to better yourself through learning and appreciation for the unique challenges you face as an adult learner. Allow me to share in your goals so that you may achieve success! Learning is something that no one can take from you, and that never loses value. Let's work together to increase understanding, learn something new and contribute to a life well lived!

Great tutor and very helpful!

Haley helped me format my citations and organize my paper according to the APA standards. They can be a little overwhelming at first but she helped break it down and we checked my entire paper to make sure it was appropriate fonts, citations, indenting, spacing, etc. She also gave me some good websites to use as an aide to help me. I definitely would recommend!

Knowledgeable and patient

Haley accomplished so much in the first appointment with my son. He has an AP test coming up soon. She helped him organize his notes and create a solid study plan. We are going to catch up with her again before the test.

Very patient and knowledgeable

Haley is very patient and understanding with my son. She is also very knowledgeable in regards to schools testing requirements to aid in preparing him for finals. I'm grateful she is able to push David past his comfort level to find more confidence in his abilities. I hope she is available next school session too :)
