I am a graduate of Washington Square College of New York University. I have been a French and Spanish teacher in the public schools for over thirty years. I have traveled to France on six separate occasions and have visited Quebec province, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico as well. I enjoy teaching foreign languages and helping students achieve their goals. I can help students with the four phases of language learning--speaking, comprehending, reading and writing in the target language. In my teaching career I taught levels 1 through SUNY French and I also taught Spanish I through Spanish III. I have had student winners in the National French Contest. I know I enjoy helping students be successful whether the tutoring involves just one session or many. I believe it is important to establish the areas of language learning that need strengthening at the outset of the tutoring process so that the student can progress successfully onto the next level. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
