I was honored to be one of two tutors in the "Tutor Spotlight" section of Wyzant's recent newsletter, and I was in the top 10% of tutors in 2020 and 2019.

Throughout my career, in various contexts, I have been honing the art of teaching. My passion is teaching people who want to learn, regardless of the level of ability, age, or subject matter. The excellent reviews by my students describe me as "patient," "caring," and "explaining things clearly," reflecting the type of 5-star teacher I purpose to be. Struggling students find that my friendly, positive approach encourages them to "crack the code" and improve their skills, confidence, and grades. Motivated adult students can learn a new skill or revive/improve their Spanish for professional use, medical Spanish, mission trips, or personal enrichment. Additionally, I provide a unique service to all students at no extra charge: In every Lesson Summary, I include links to online practice exercises, instructional videos, articles, etc., to review and practice what we cover in the lesson.

My mother, a teacher by profession, introduced me to the Spanish language from an early age. My first undergraduate degree was a B.A. in Spanish. During my junior year abroad in Spain, I acquired near-native fluency, maintained through my work as a teacher, tutor, freelance interpreter, assistant counselor for Latino families, and many friendships with Spanish-speaking people. Music lessons and participation in choirs were central to my childhood, youth, and early adulthood, so I also earned a second bachelor's and master's degrees in Music. The programs included excellent training, professional performing experiences, and courses on teaching methods/techniques. My musical education prepared me to make concepts clear and to help people to develop latent talent, which has been my joy ever since.

Spanish

Spanish

Having tutored all levels of Spanish for many years, I am very familiar with the points of grammar that give students the most trouble. I help students to build their confidence in learning the language by tapping into their learning styles and by my personable and encouraging approach. It is also a joy to share my love of the language with other adults for their personal or professional needs. My bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature included a year abroad in Madrid, Spain, where I developed near-native fluency that I have maintained throughout my life.

Very Vibrant and Knowledgeable Instructor

Elizabeth is an excellent instructor. I am a visual learner so her method of teaching helps me a great deal. Her knowledge of the history of Spain was so intriguing and help me to relate to the Castilian language. So happy I chose her as my instructor.

knowledgeable and patient tutor!

I'm currently enrolled in medical Spanish in college. I reached out for tutoring help because I have never taken Spanish before. I'm so glad I did because Elizabeth is very patient and easy to talk to. She explained everything until I understood and connected many dots for me. After our session she sent me many links to different resources for extra practice. She responds to chats practically right away and is very available even though she's so busy. I will definitely be scheduling many more sessions!

Best Spanish Tutor!

Elizabeth was extremely helpful throughout my Spanish III course this quarter! She worked with me through my assignments and she always took the time to explain any new grammar or vocabulary. I was able to receive an overall grade of 100% at the end of my class. She was also incredibly flexible when I needed to reschedule throughout our sessions. Thank you again for your help this quarter Elizabeth!
