Adult students can learn a new skill or revive/improve their Spanish. One of my specialties is Medical Spanish, as I also have some background in medical interpreting. Other interests are Spanish for mission trips and general conversational Spanish. High school and college students find that my friendly, positive approach encourages them to "crack the code" and improve their skills, confidence, and grades. Additionally, I provide a unique service to all students at no extra charge: In every Lesson Summary, I provide links to online practice exercises, instructional videos, articles, etc., to supplement and review what we cover in the lesson.

My mother, a teacher by profession, introduced me to the Spanish language from an early age, and we traveled to Mexico and Spain. I then earned a B.A. in Spanish, including one year of study abroad in Spain. I have maintained near-native fluency through my work as a teacher, tutor, freelance interpreter, assistant counselor for Latino families, and friendships with native Spanish speakers from several countries.

Music lessons and participation in choirs were central to my childhood, youth, and early adulthood. I also earned a second bachelor's and master's degrees in Music. The programs included excellent training, professional performing experiences, and courses on teaching methods/techniques. My musical education prepared me to make concepts clear and help people develop latent talent, which has been my joy ever since.

Spanish

Having tutored all levels of Spanish for many years, I am very familiar with the points of grammar that give students the most trouble. I help students to build their confidence in learning the language by tapping into their learning styles and by my personable and encouraging approach. It is also a joy to share my love of the language with other adults for their personal or professional needs. My bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature included a year abroad in Madrid, Spain, where I developed near-native fluency that I have maintained throughout my life.

Adaptabe and Effective tutor

I have an odd situation. I'll be traveling to South America soon. I've been studying on my own, and it dawned on me slowly that it was a dumb idea. With only a few weeks left, Elizabeth has found several different interesting and effective ways to help me get more comfortable with communicating. I tried several different tutors before landing with her, and I feel lucky that I did.

I highly recommend Elizabeth !!

One year ago, we made a tough decision of moving our 13-year-old 7th grader to a new school, as he got admitted to a Dual Language Charter School (50% Spanish/50% English). My son had very little knowledge of Spanish language. He only knew some basic vocabulary from Spanish class in elementary school and from hearing family speak. Elizabeth taught my son Spanish at a very intense level the first couple of months (3 x 60-min lessons a week). Then gradually decreased to shorter, fewer lessons pr week due to his progress (1/2 hour each week). We found Elizabeth by searching the internet. We feel so lucky we found her. Our son liked her instantly from our first online meeting. He was very receptive to working with her. She is excellent, patient, and knowledgeable. Elizabeth teaches Spanish at different levels and helps with homework when needed, practice free conversation and is always well prepared with what's next to learn. I only have positive things to say about Elizabeth and I highly recommend her. This is and have been a 5 Star experience all the way. Elizabeth, we couldn't have done this without you!!. Thank You.

I'm confident that Elizabeth is going to have me confidently speaking Spanish very soon! She is clearly patient and provided thoughtful exercises for me to work on during the week to practice. Already looking forward to my next lesson.

Elizabeth is a very gifted teacher!

Elizabeth N. is a very caring, wise, and thoughtful teacher. We tried out other teachers but she is the best. She created a whole curriculum for my daughter which my daughter found engaging and FUN. She gave meaningful homework and my daughter really enjoyed her approach. We will definitely work with her again and can’t recommend her highly enough.

Excellent college Spanish Tutor!

My daughter had 11 online sessions with Elizabeth, during the spring semester 2021. She found Elizabeth to be extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind, funny, and ready to work on whatever my daughter needed help with. Elizabeth promptly answered messages, was always prepared for sessions, never cancelled or changed a scheduled session and always provided examples, feedback, and suggestions/links for additional study. We would definitely recommend her! Thank you so much Elizabeth!!
