S.U.N.Y @ Oswego (English)
My high interest in tutoring comes from my love of learning. I have a history of being a very good student in a variety of disciplines, primarily English and social sciences. In May of 1993, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English, achieving cum laude as a graduate. In May of 2015, I finished a second Bachelor's degree in the social sciences/human services fields, and averaged a 3.7 GPA throughout my college career.
I started tutoring English as a volunteer (TESOL) tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America for one year, working primarily with two foreign students from Jordan (Middle Eastern country) and Poland. What I love about tutoring is helping someone reach their goals, from being a more confident speaker of English to entry into college.
Bachelor's Degree in English, Cum Laude graduate, 3.3 GPA.
English 101 and 201, both taken at University at Buffalo, received an "A" in both.
I am available primarily weekends, from 10:00 am to 5:00pm, for in-person tutoring only. Meetings can be held a t a local public library. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
