About Angie

I am a business major at Medaille, as well as the owner, and founder of a tax preparation business located in Buffalo, NY. I started this company due to my grandmother. She hasn't retired yet, so she needed someone to prepare her taxes for her, and with the little knowledge I had from taking an accounting class in high school, I successfully prepared her tax return. From then on, I was tax crazy. I feel like my tax background is a blessing. I've learned math in a new light, although it's simple math, I've gotten better at mental math. As an entrepreneur and a college student, I have to find my way to free time. However, in my free time, I also teach as a fitness instructor at LA Fitness. I teach a cornucopia of classes, everything ranging from aquatics to Zumba, to weight training, I teach a lot. I teach everyday in the summer, and nearly everyday during the school year. Teaching classes sometimes can be tough, however, I truly love making other people feel accomplished. I like being a helping hand to my class attendees, as well as my tax clients. This desire to give back is why I enjoy tutoring. Although, at first, I thought that tutoring would be too much for me, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, staying on the Dean's list, continual fitness classes all day, and working as a tax preparer, I thought no way! But, that changed when I thought back to JA.

In high school I was apart of Junior Achievement (JA), and as a requirement to be in the program we had to volunteer "tutor". As I worked as a volunteer tutor, I enjoyed it so much. I tutored biology the most in highschool. I focused my tutoring on two things for biology, regents and class prep/tests. I tutored different kids for the bio regents and different kids for classwork, homework, pop quizzes, testes and regular quizzes. Biology is what I am best at. However, I have tutored in pre-algebra, as well English, writing, and a few other subjects. I want to tutor because when I think about and remember the joy you receive when a student comes back and shows you how much better their doing, it makes me want to relive those moments. As I was referred to Medaille's tutor program, by three of my professors, I was frightened. But when I thought of the Junior Achievement tutoring, I was able to find it in myself to become a tutor. It didn't take much convincing of myself to become a tutor, and I am happy that I have made this decision. My students were very successful, and well prepared for any test or quiz, or regents prep. Homework became easy and classwork became simple. I am looking forward to working with you!

If you would like to learn more about other subjects I can tutor; English, vocab, etc, or my availability feel free to contact me at any time!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I played basketball for two years in high school. I have also helped coach a local team as well as I assisted in coaching with a young team at the YMCA. I coached one other team during a vacation bible school. When I played basketball, I was a guard as well as a defender. I went to numerous basketball camps, including Damien and Canisuis college camps.

As a business major at Medaille college, I feel I am qualified to tutor others in business. I have a 4.0 GPA currently at Medaille as a business major. I am also an entrepreneur. I have started my own tax preparation business, and I have used the marketing tools and many other business aspects I have learned from school to start my business.

I am qualified to tutor in fitness because I am fitness instructor at LA Fitness. Previously, I worked at the YMCA, and I went to churches to give classes. I am certified/qualified to teach Zumba fitness, Aqua Zumba, Kids and Kids jr Zumba, Cycle/Spinning, Aquafit, Bootcamp, Bodyworks plus abs, and Power Circuit. Right now I teach or substitute daily, all of the mentioned classes. I have been teaching fitness classes for over a year, and I have been teaching Zumba for over two years.

Microsoft Publisher

As an entrepreneur, I have made many pamphlets, and various flyers using Microsoft publisher. For my business I have made many brochures, that have placed locally, in different stores/hotels, as well as for many assignments in college I have made brochures. I have used this publisher many times and I can navigate the program very easily.

I am best at biology Regents help. However, I can provide study methods and materials for my students. I scored an 89 on biology Regents, and I have helped students pass their biology Regents while in high school.

Tax Preparation

I am a certified tax preparer. I have a PTIN, and I have taken classes through Liberty Tax School. As of now, I own my own business, The Tax Corner. My business is a tax preparation business. I feel I am qualified to tutor in this subject because of my experience. I have prepared a few tax returns for the past two years, however, this year I obtained my PTIN and I started my local tax business in Buffalo, NY.
