My passion for tutoring comes from a lifelong love of learning and my genuine appreciation of the importance of education. I graduated from Vanderbilt in 2018 with a BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology so I know that hard work and dedication to learning can pay off. I began tutoring when I was in high school, and have continued to expand my subject knowledge and tutoring expertise since then. I was recently hired as an SAT/ACT tutor at a local test prep company in my area, which has helped me to refine my skills and knowledge. I have also tutored many high school students in subjects including chemistry, SAT math, geometry, and algebra on a short-term basis.

Whether we are working on biology concepts or SAT Math, one of my goals for each session is to keep the student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I ensure that students are engaged in the session by encouraging independent thinking and problem-solving in my students. I hold myself to a high standard because I value both my time and my students' time and I am invested in their success.

For that reason, I often ask for feedback and I will never bill for a lesson in which the student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring. I will also offer a free consultation meeting prior to the first session, at the student or parent's request. References from prior students are available as well.

To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me, I recommend that they meet me at a public library. However, I am happy to travel to a different location of the student's choice if that is more suitable for the student.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies.

Nice but not helpful

I came to Kelsey to gain a better understand on my college level, Chemistry 2 course, and to clear up a couple points of confusion. She was nice, but did not know the information nor reviewed it prior to the session. She was not able to answer my questions and it felt like I was explaining things to her. Overall, this session was not helpful.

Very helpful and flexible

Kelsey has been great working with both kids on Chemistry and Physics. We switched up one day to Geometry with my daughter and Kelsey was able to adapt on the fly. My 14 and 16 year old have both said that she has been very helpful.

Well prepared tutor

Very patient and informative. She was very understanding when weather and traffic delayed our session. I’d gladly work with her again. My daughter felt comfortable and was pleased with the instruction.

SAT Practice

Kelsey helped my son practice for the math portion of the SAT. He said that Kelsey was very knowledgeable and the session was extremely helpful. I am glad Wyzant was able to aid in coordinating this.
