Canisius College (English, Psychology)
SUNY Buffalo (MEd)
I graduated from College summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in English. I have experience as a school counselor for students in grades K-8, and also as a districtwide interventionist for all grade levels (with an emphasis on elementary). I began tutoring privately when I was in high school, and continued to do so through college, graduate school, and while working as a school counselor. I was the Lead Teacher for the afterschool tutoring program we offered on my campus.
I am currently certified in the following areas: Elementary Education K-6, Special Education K-12, Guidance & Counseling K-12, with endorsements in the areas of English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL/ESL) and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I am patient, compassionate, and professional. I am data-driven and like to set challenging but achievable goals for myself and my students. I hold myself and others to a high standard; I will give you my all, and will expect the same in return.
All of my positions have demanded a high level of oral and written communication. On a weekly basis I send emails and newsletters to our entire school district (100+ schools), on behalf of my supervisor and our department, which requires my writing to be precise, accurate, and free of spelling and grammatical errors.
I am happy to speak with you and to answer any questions you may have. I believe in being honest--if for any reason I feel that I will not be able to meet your needs, I will be upfront with you. I encourage you to reach out to me so that we can decide if this match is a mutual fit. Thanks for considering me! I graduated from College summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in English. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
