Hello!

I first began tutoring when I was in high school, where I helped underclassmen with math and physics. That's when I learned that I had a talent for helping students grasp mathematical concepts and improving their grades. Since then I've done it regularly as a source of income.

I attended Boston University from 2009 to 2013, where I received an Alexander Graham Bell scholarship to study engineering. I began in the Mechanical program, but switched to Electrical in my sophomore year. Attaining an engineering degree requires mainly three types of courses: mathematics, science, and engineering. Mathematics courses I took include Calculus up to Multivariate, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. In the science fields I took three physics courses as well as a course in electromagnetism and a course in photonics. Finally, the engineering courses consisted of topics such as circuit design, signals and systems, logic design, power electronics. I graduated cum laude with a 3.50 GPA.

My strength is in tutoring high level topics, such as advanced calculus and physics. However, most of my students have been high schoolers studying geometry, trigonometry, calculus or pre-calculus. I have a year's experience working at a charter school in Boston as the official tutor to ten freshmen and sophomores with a focus on algebra and geometry. I currently spend about 20 hours per week tutoring SAT and ACT math and science on an online platform and I offer tutoring for those tests as well.

Outside math and science, I began tutoring adults in ESL at a local center for immigrants. I did that during my junior year of high school and also this past summer when I was home after graduating from college. My students there were between the ages of 21 and 35 with varying degrees of English experience. My focus when it comes to ESL is repetition and the use of words one will use daily.

I've learned a lot about tutoring over the years. I've discovered that the most effective way to increase the student's knowledge is to encourage t

I studied Electrical Engineering at Boston University and graduated cum laude with a 3.50 GPA. Courses I took include: Circuit Design Signals and Systems Logic Design Physics 2 (electromagnetism) Electromagnetism MATLAB C++ Photonics (graduate level) Power electronics (graduate level) Plus the required mathematics courses, including calculus through Multivariate, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. Projects I was part of include 1. using Verilog HDL to program a Spartan 6 FPGA board to create a computer tic-tac-toe game on a Windows system with a VGA display, and 2. designing and building a system for Alcatel-Lucent that used Wi-fi and RFID to automatically adjust a light dimmer and window blinds to users' settings preferred settings. It included an Android app made with Java and used servos and stepper motors, a T.I. board, and stepper driver board.

Guitar

Guitar

I have played guitar ever since I was in eighth grade. I've also done some guitar lessons. I start off by teaching the students the strings, and notes and a bit of music theory. Then I into the basic open chords such as C, D, G, E, E minor, A, and A minor. The student must learn to play these chords and be able to transition between them. Then I teach strumming patterns and rhythm as well as power chords. After that, I go into basic finger picking and arpeggios. This helps the student learn what notes are making up these chords and is enough for them to play and write some basic songs, like lots of Beatles songs. When they're ready I will teach them barre chords. From there, it's about what they want to play. Guitar being the popular instrument that it is, it's easy for me to find songs by artist they like that they can play to practice. I learned guitar from my Dad and a handful of tutors, so I'm very familiar with how it is taught.
