About John

Bio

For over 40 years in Buffalo, I have tutored science and mathematics, either part-time or full-time.
I have also taught physics as a professor at Daemen College and mathematical sciences at the University at Buffalo as well as AP physics/calculus and Regents physics at local private schools.
Biophysics was my concentration in graduate school, explaining the broad range of courses I tutor.

You will find an excellent seasoned tutor by choosing me as your guide through difficult courses.

I tutor biostatistics for students at the University at Buffalo's Medical School and Biomedical Sciences -- for many years. I have run the gamut of tutoring statistics courses at UB from statistics for dentists (!) to statistics for psychologists. As well I have worked as a Senior Biostatistician at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

Most relevantly, I have tutored undergraduate DEQ for many years, especially for University at Buffalo students (SUNY). In the Fall, I helped at least 8 students the entire semester at UB covering 1st and 2nd order equations, systems of equations using matrices, phase plane stability , series solutions, Laplace transforms, etc. And my education includes undergraduate and graduate DEQ courses.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

My university courses for a physics and mathematics degree were heavily involved with matrices and linear transformations starting with vector representations with different basis sets. Besides my regular study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I had the opportunity to study more linear algebra at the Quantum Theory Project at the University of Florida, leading to an invitation as a college sophomore to attend the Summer School of Quantum Chemistry in Sweden and Norway for two months. This led to research at Amherst College solving the eigenvalue-eigenvector problem to discover the quantum energy states of Vitamin B12 using linear algebra computer programs.
Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

I have a degree in physics and math. I spent almost 10 years tutoring a part-time mechanical engineering student in his engineering courses and for the professional engineering exam. And I also tutor full-time engineering students in statics, dynamics, materials, thermo, vibrations, heat transfer, probability, etc. at the University at Buffalo.

Epidemiology

Epidemiology

My research work at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo involved statistical/Epidemiological studies of cancer outcomes from low level radiation exposure. As well, I have tutored many biostatistics courses and basic/advanced epidemiology courses for medical and MPH students. You will find me an excellent and well seasoned epidemiology tutor.

Organic Chemistry,

Organic Chemistry

I have tutored University at Buffalo organic chemistry students improving their course grades and MCAT organic results. Both my undergraduate and graduate programs included courses in organic chemistry (Biophysical Sciences). As an undergraduate, I participated in a graduate-level course at Uppsala University In Sweden that covered the application of quantum chemistry to organic biomolecules. And at Amherst College one summer, I applied those techniques to the study of the large vitamin B12 organic molecule.

Regents,

Regents

I have taught regents science and math at the New York State high school level. Plus I already tutor these subjects successfully. My students usually bring in the state regents books and I explain the best ways to quickly understand and master a question. There are so many ways to eliminate answers.
