I am a current Medical Resident in Anesthesiology at Ichan Mount Sinai Hospital having recently graduated from SUNY Downstate for my MD and Columbia University where I completed a Biology Major. I have done private tutoring in Math and Science for over 5 years, and I fell in love with teaching during my studies at Columbia where I worked as a Teaching Assistant for 3 years and had the pleasure of teaching a summer high school course at Columbia as well. I have taken many standardized tests along the way, and I am familiar with NY Regents, AP Courses, SAT, MCAT, STEP 1 and STEP 2 from personal experience. I actively provide advice for test taking as well as school applications.
I have the most formal teaching experiences in the fields of the sciences. I still actively study the sciences, and my undergraduate studies heavily relied on the understandings of Biology, Genetics and Physiology. I have taught the same college level material to high school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students. From this experience, I have learned to probe for a student's current understanding of a material and modify my teaching based on their current understanding. Many times, I would use this approach to teach a concept to many students at a time.
It would be my absolute pleasure to learn what works for you, and what techniques are best for your academic growth. Everyone thrives from a combination of different studying techniques, and I believe it is a tutor's job to find which techniques will put you in the greatest position to succeed.
