Hello, reader! I am an electrical engineering graduate from Brown University who currently works in the defense industry as an electrical engineer. As I worked through my course-work in school, I realized I was passionate about the material I was learning. I could feel my brain becoming more dense and rich with engineering knowledge that I could not wait to apply. Eager to share this passion, I worked as a teaching assistant during my junior and senior years for classes including electrical_circuits and signals_&_systems. By running lab sessions and office hours, I got to work with many different, sharp minds. I look forward to helping you succeed in your course work and sharing personal examples of how I've been able to apply what you're learning!

Thank you for taking the time to read through this profile! Classes that I can help you with include: Electrical Circuits, Digital Logic (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, FPGAs), Computer Architecture (x86, RISC-V, ARM, MIPS), C/C++, C#, Signals & Systems, and Communication Systems.

Full-day crash courses are offered for the following subjects. No background knowledge is assumed and the material is taught from scratch:
Digital Logic Design (Combinational and Sequential Logic Design using Logisim and HDLs)
Computer Architecture (Design of a single cycle and pipelined RISC processor using HDLs and Modelsim)

Textbooks I am familiar with (and/or taught from) include:
Digital Design and Computer Architecture Arm Edition - Harris & Harris
Communication Systems - Madhow
Signals and Systems - Oppenheim & Willsky
Discrete-Time Signal Processing - Oppenheim & Schafer
Electric Circuits - Alexander & Sadiku

I expect students to provide copies of examples and notes that they wish to review beforehand. I will go over this material prior to our session in order to plan the most logical way to cover the material. Thank you!

Computer Engineering

As an engineer who specializes in DSP and hardware design, I work closely at the hardware/software interface. Specifically, I am fluent with the interaction between application software, processor architecture/micro-architecture, logic, and digital circuits. My computer engineering background draws from the material in 'Digital Design and Computer Architecture' by Harris and Harris.

Electrical Engineering

In my work as a systems engineer, I get to work around communication systems on a daily basis. My communication systems background consists of both digital signal processing (DSP) and hardware design. As an undergraduate teaching assistant, I have taught elementary DSP from 'Signals & Systems' by Oppenheim and Willsky. I have also taught elementary digital/analog hardware design from 'Electric Circuits' by Alexander and Sadiku.

Exceptional Tutor in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering!

This semester was my first jump into the world of hardware, so naturally I needed a little extra help with binary logic, combinatorial and sequential circuit design, memory structures, instruction set architectures, and basic processor design. Courses in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) typically cover material that spans both the hardware and software space, which makes it difficult to find capable tutors with enough knowledge or versatility to be reliable in both domains. This was not the case with Richard; he not only has a masterful grasp of the material, but he's also extremely organized and prepared, and he steps through problems slowly while stopping along the way to make sure you're tracking his instructions. We covered topics such as flip flops, pipelines, hazards, cycle forwarding, speedups, single cycle datapaths, and circuit design. Without his help, I would have been completely lost - my only regret is not finding him earlier in the semester. I highly recommend!

Great experience

Richard stuck with me and went through everything in great detail. I feel a lot more confident on all of my digital logic content after our session. Thanks Richard

Knowledgeable teacher

Only one session so far but my son is the one who took the lesson but he said he found the session very helpful, Richard was excellent at explaining the material.

Excellent Teacher!

Beyond his great intuition for circuit analysis, Richard is an an excellent teacher who will explain in thorough detail the minor and the major details of each problem and topics discussed, while answering any and all general or specific questions asked. If you have any specific circuit theory and analysis or matlab questions, he is the best.

Very knowledgeable

Richard is the perfect tutor. He is a great teacher that goes the right pace. We have used him repeatedly. He makes sure that you understand the assignment and is always there later if you need to ask further questions. A++++

Best tutor!!

Richard is amazing!! I cannot say enough good things about Richard! He is well prepared, very knowledgeable, caring and very patient. My son is very young but Richard knows how to make the class interesting and knows how to encourage young student. My son really loves Richard and can’t wait for his next class! Best tutor ever!! Highly recommend!!

He is the best

Richard is a very amazing tutor he’s able to explain difficult concepts in a way that even a 5 year old with no prior knowledge could understand. He goes out of his way to make sure you have a very high understanding of what is going on in problems and topics. By far the best tutor I’ve ever had for any programming/engineering class. I highly recommend him to anyone!

Highly recommended tutor in Electrical Circuit Analysis

Richard is a top-notch tutor. Aside from being very knowledgeable of the subject matter, he is very patient and helpful. He is my tutor every Friday until the semester ends and hopefully, in the coming semesters.

Really knows how to make things easy to understand!

I came into our lesson with zero knowledge about Assembly language, and after I was ready to give up on my assignment after one week of no progress, one session with Richard helped me understand more than 4 weeks worth of lectures! We not only completed my project together, but he made sure I understood every step, while even teaching me things that I have yet to learn in my class with a complete understanding! If you are looking for a patient, easy to understand, and well-prepared tutor, Richard is your guy!
