Hello!
I've been a part-time tutor for the past 8 years, with a focus on teaching math at the middle school, high school, and college levels.
Over the course of my education, I came to appreciate the value of knowledgeable, patient, and passionate teachers. Caring teachers tend to understand how academic success can lead to greater life opportunities and personal growth. I've tried to incorporate this attitude in order to enable others to achieve success. My teaching philosophy is to help students build a foundational understanding of the material; it's one thing to be able to memorize the quadratic formula, and another to understand exactly when to apply it. In practice, I've found that the most effective teaching method involves working through example problems and asking questions to pinpoint any areas of confusion.
I recently graduated from college with an MS in Computer Science and a BA in Mathematical Logic. I was a teaching assistant for two years during this time. The most rewarding part was seeing the look on a student's face right as they "got" a concept they had struggled with.
I'll always respond to messages as quickly as possible. Please send me a note if you're interested in scheduling a lesson!
