I have privately tutored students in math, chemistry, physics, and SAT/GRE exams for nine years. While living in Seattle, I worked with middle school to college students for 6.5 years. As a senior at the University of Washington studying bioengineering, I became a lead mathematics tutor at the Center for Learning & Undergraduate Enrichment (CLUE), which offered undergraduate students free one-on-one tutoring and lecture hall exam review sessions. I tutored calculus and advanced topics including, differential equations, linear algebra, and real analysis. I found that my review sessions were a hit - students often followed the CLUE schedule to attend mine specifically for my clear, descriptive approach. After moving to NYC for my M.S. in Electrical Engineering from New York University, I became a teaching assistant for circuits and machine learning courses. In May, I graduated with a 4.0 and completed M.S. thesis on innovating convex and nonconvex optimization of chromatography signals.

Since I was in high school, I always strived to eventually become an educator at the university level. My passion led me to teaching diverse subjects from Algebra I onward. My range of experience helped me recognize what high school and college students struggle with, and how to develop a thorough understanding that will stay with you and add nuance to your academic pursuits. Stepping into students’ shoes, I build concise and quality explanations that make math relatable, interesting, and accessible.

I am currently living in Brooklyn, NY. I work with students in the local Brooklyn/Manhattan area or through online sessions.

I believe all students are capable of overcoming barriers in their math and science studies. I demonstrate multiple problem-solving approaches and perspectives to ensure thorough understanding, and allow you to choose which methods resonate with you instead of rote memorization. I also focus on strengthening weak areas and removing common mathematical misconceptions. I add real-world applications to make

Very helpful and knowledgeable tutor who is proficient in linear algebra

We went over fundamental concepts of linear algebra and Ken helps make Gramm Schmidt concept easy to understand. I would recommend Ken to anyone struggling to master linear algebra
