Hello there! I’m Kenneth, a software engineer at Google with M.S. in electrical engineering, and I have been tutoring math, chemistry, and physics for over ten years. If you are looking for mathematics knowledge and intuition, let’s work on it together.

I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in bioengineering in 2016. As an undergraduate, I was a lead mathematics tutor hosting lecture hall review sessions at the UW Center for Learning & Undergraduate Enrichment. I found that my clear, descriptive approach in my review sessions was very popular with students – attendance skyrocketed to 100+! In 2019, I graduated from New York University with an M.S. in electrical engineering, and 4.0 GPA. My concentration in machine learning (ML) and optimization helped set me on a path to becoming a ML teaching assistant, then ML engineer, and now Google software engineer.

I am passionate about accessible math education. By stepping into students' shoes, truly listening, and tailoring my approach, I help students master any math subject regardless of their level. I focus on strengthening weak areas by demonstrating multiple problem-solving perspectives to ensure thorough understanding. I always build concise and quality explanations that make math relatable and interesting.

I am currently living in Brooklyn, NY, but I am offering only online lessons at this time. I hope to hear from you!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra does not need to rely on rote memorization. I help students build intuition early on, creating a strong foundation for every upper-level math and science course. I help students understand algebra problems from different perspectives, and give them the concrete understanding and confidence that there are multiple ways to solve it. Students love this because they have all the tools in their toolbox when tackling future problems.

Calculus,

Calculus

I have privately tutored hundreds of students in calculus alone, especially for AP Calculus AB/BC exams. I also extensively tutored calculus at the undergraduate level, and my expertise in the more advanced topics such as multivariable calculus and real analysis has made teaching simpler calculus concepts much easier. My academic and professional machine learning experience includes everyday, real-world applications for calculus and linear algebra.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have tutored geometry for many years, and I found that most students end up enjoying the subject because it involves visual pattern recognition. I help them realize that the theorems learned can often be broken up into smaller ones. Doing this gives students the building blocks to understand the reasoning behind classic geometric proofs as opposed to memorizing the steps of the process.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

The main topic of precalculus boils down to understanding triangles, their relation to the unit circle, and how trigonometric functions tie into both concepts. I teach this topic with engaging diagrams and linked concepts, and even the hardest of topics such as manipulating trigonometric identities can be thoroughly demonstrated by all my students.

I have passed theoretical and applied linear algebra with flying colors, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Furthermore, I have helped many students understand the geometric aspect of the subject, and in turn, boost their scores on exams.
