Italian tutor fluent in English and Italian

Hi my name is Giulia. I am currently a student at BMCC. I currently live in Brooklyn, but I was born in Italy, so I have a complete understanding of the Italian language! I work very well with others and I am very patient and would like to help people understand Italian better, so tutoring comes naturally to me. I am currently an Engineering student at BMCC working towards my Associates degree before later pursuing my Bachelors in Engineering Science. Before coming to BMCC I was a student and a tutor at Nassau Community College on Long Island. I have one year tutoring experience in 100 and 200 Italian languages classes. I had met with 5 separate students during free hours when I wasn't in class during one fall semester at NCC and the following spring semester I met with 4 new students after posting flyers in the student union. Also, during my own Italian classes at NCC, I was a straight A student and helped my fellow classmates as much as I possibly could. My approach to tutoring is that of understanding and patience. As a foreign born student, I can appreciate the difficulty of learning a second language as I had this experience myself with English. When tutoring Italian, I take the approach of identifying the students questions and difficulties and explaining to them the proper approach to correcting their misunderstanding. Meeting in the quiet area of the library one on one is the best way to tutor a student so that they have my undivided attention.

As a tutor, my approach is simple. I feel that a student should come to me with questions about what they are having difficulty with in their class and I will work with them so that they can understand their problem. As a native Italian speaker and a fluent English speaker I have a thorough understanding of both languages so I will be able to target the problem the student is having and then help them to solve their problem. I think it is important when learning a language to break down exactly what the difficulty is for the student and then focus
