I have experience in tutoring students in science subjects during my undergraduate study. Most of my private tutoring sessions were 1-on-1. I understand how to let students make the most out of the limited time that we have. We all know that one professor who would just read off the slides without actually explaining the concepts and thinking he did his job right. I believe in teaching science in an engaging and conversational way, rather than the reading-points-off-the-slides method. I want our tutoring sessions to be as easy going as possible, so it would feel like two friends discussing science.
A lot of students, including myself when I was an undergraduate student, feel frustrated when studying introductory courses because it includes a ton of memorization and it feels like what they learn is irrelevant to what is practical used. I have experience in cancer research and I can relate biological and biochemical concepts and let students know why they are learning certain topics and why it is important to learn them.
For Chinese learners, as a native Chinese who grew up and lived in Hong Kong for more than 20 years, I can help you with all four aspects, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. No matter how advanced we are, there is always something that we can work on our language, it is an endless journey. There is nothing more convenient than learning the Cantonese from a native speaker!
