About Dustin

I am a Math for America Master Teaching Fellow, who has been teaching in New York City High Schools for over 12 years. I have helped students of all levels achieve their learning goals, and learn to love math. I have been tutoring students in math since I was in college, volunteering to help struggling students. I love watching the moment when the light goes on in my students eyes and they finally understand a cool new math concept, feel a sudden rush of confidence where before there was only nervousness, and apprehension turn into comprehension.

Before I began teaching I studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin. This has given me a great basis to demonstrate real world applications of math concepts. I have always also been an incredible test taker and would love to share my tips to not just pass tests but earn great scores without the stress!

I have experience teaching all of the new High School Common Core courses and grading the Regents Exams (Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II), so I am excellent both at helping you learn the concepts and improve your class grade, and to achieve the high scores you want on standardized tests. I also have taught Calculus, and Pre-Calculus for many years. For years I have been helping many of my students study for both the SAT and ACT tests, and am up to date on the new SAT exam format and question types. I am an expert on using the TI graphing calculators, can show you all the ways they can be helpful on any exam.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Great teacher!! — I have a very limited foundation in algebra and Dustin really helped explain and simplify a handful of homework questions that I've been having difficulty with. Will definitely hire again!! ...
