About Daniella

I have 12 years or experience consulting and teaching all levels of professionals. One of my favorite work experience was at the Allen school for Health Sciences.

My role was a consultant was to help women ages 17-55 find their career in the Medical field. It was my responsibility to ensure all of their financial aid paperwork and tax documents are correct. Another responsibility of mine was interviewing students to ensure they were a fit for the school. Once students were admitted. My role was to help guide and monitor their success in all the courses to its completion.

Since all our students were immigrants from other countries around the world. My job was to teach them basic English lessons , pronunciations, English writing and spelling. All my classes were designed to have a mentor ship approach. I met with students on a 1 on 1 basis.

The reason for this is because each student had a different skill set and were all at different levels of engagement. I handled my teaching based on learning about that one thing they are passionate about and use that as a driving force of motivation. I love my classes to be very engaging. So ask my students a lot of questions. My graduation rate at the school was 90%. Many of my students came back to thank me on the amazing journey they had and the valuable life lessons learned.

My other teaching experience is at NYCares. This is one of the largest nonprofit organization in the city. I work here as a volunteer devoting my time to inner city kids aged 5-11 and adults from low income homes aged 21-60. In my time working here for NYCares. I took on several different roles. My main role was a volunteer teacher. This is where I taught English to Arab, Chinese and African immigrant women.

I enjoyed all my projects. However this particular project of teaching gave me a huge sense of fulfillment. In my classes teaching immigrants English comprised of 3 to 4 students. I was given the tasks of teaching students social skills, grammar, basic English writing, word pronunciation and reading. My sessions were very interactive. I liked discussing the students backgrounds to break the ice and develop a comforting relationship building their self esteem. We used a structured curriculum formulated by the directors of the project.

This allowed us to engage in several role plays. In this instance students will reenact scenarios from their hometown through drawings and acting. I also made students interact and engage with each other to make the learning environment fun while meeting someone new. I felt doing this was a great way to build their social skills. I also made games out of the coursework and allow students to learn and understand from their errors. I did this by letting each student clearly voice their misunderstanding and guided them to the right solution. Students loved this stance which allowed me continued success.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I tutor students from Arab, African and Asian descent every year. I can also help students in high school and junior high with their English assignments.

GED

I volunteered tutoring students for GED classes and test taking. I also assisted adults and high school students with GED assignments.
