I'm art school educated and knowledgeable female living in the New York area who is willing to tutor a potential graduate student or young person learning fundamentals. This is able to be done at my home that happens to be furnished with an extra rehearsal space coupled with an upright piano and a stage, however, I am also available to travel. My personal work has made many transitions over the years of making, and has reached a point of focus on performance, that encompasses certain elements of visual art that I am passionate in doing.
What pleases me about becoming a tutor is being an advocate of not only visual art, but metaphors and the formation of gestures. These gestures can be done in a variety of ways, as exercises or workshop tutorials to discover your talents. One would be amazed in the outcome of certain bodily stances, gestures, or hand movements during drawing techniques.
For example: If a person is a lover of tap dancing, or taking dance lessons, it could be introduced that one is able to make drawings with there feet in the process of dance movements. This technique can also be used with musical instruments, serving as a tool for making. Sound is also an element in which supports the maker with its weight and lets them lead the way the ease. To achieve this takes years of practice for some, and very little time for others. And finally, admiring a famous character or two in your eyes is a helpful support during a creative endeavor. I have mine and studied a few characters for many years because I of my admiration for them and how they play.
As a summation, I would like to complement you on focusing your creativity on one or two directions, and not six. If you can play a horn, play a horn and make it wonderful. Strive for that. Make your own directions and design, and greatness will come. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold an MFA from The Glasgow School of Art, with wide experience in multiple disciplines, including drawing (building one's portfolio for an application for a program, perspective drawing, or simply technical), painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, tempera.)
