I've worked for the past decade as a translator, interpreter, intelligence analyst, research assistant, and language instructor. I have a bachelors degree in philosophy and linguistics and have studied extensively the foundations of mathematics, logic and argumentation, and the Spanish language. In preparation to being certified as a teacher in the state of New York, I have taken and passed the Educating all Students test (EAS), the Academic Literacy Skills test (ALST), and all three content specialty tests (English language arts, math, and science) for childhood education grades 1-6.
I have dealt with many types of learners, including visual learners, aural learners, spatial learners, and even kinesthetic learners, and combinations of all. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I'm also acquainted with logic used in the foundations of math (mathematical induction, proofs, etc.).
I have a B.A. in philosophy from Hunter College with a 3.9 gpa within the major. My coursework covered history of philosophy (ancient greek to 19th century), Indian philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, and ethics.
