Greetings! I have been in education for nearly 15 years - two as a teacher's aide, 12 as a classroom teacher, and am going into my third year as a principal. It's been as educational for me as it has been for the students!
I'm looking to tutor primarily in elementary and middle school grades. I have taught and several different grade levels, and also have school-age children of my own.
Not only do am I well-trained in teaching all aspects of ELA, but I also really love it. Persnickety points of grammar? Bring it on. Identifying literary elements and their purpose? Sounds good to me. Sounding words out at a basic level to assist new readers? Everyone starts somewhere!
I was studying and implementing Common Core requirements even before they were formally adopted because I wanted to be prepared. I can help you make your way through. I promise, it's truly not as scary as some people make it out to be.
You know how some people just have a natural knack for spelling? Well, that's me. I firmly believe it is a combination of reading all the time (the more words your brain sees, the more it makes connections about what "looks right") and a deep and abiding nerdy interest in word origins and language families.
So if it sounds like we may be a good match, please contact me and we can get you started on better understanding the school subjects that make you nervous. Whatever they may be, we can conquer them together!
