About Linda

I am an aspiring doctor with over 5 years of experience tutoring Math. Mathematics is my favorite subject to tutor/teach as I find that a lot of individuals are scared of it. I enjoy helping others demystify Math. I believe that one on one tutoring is all that some students need to gain the confidence that they need to excel. I have experience tutoring middle school, high school, and college students.

I started tutoring middle school students after graduating from Columbia. Then, I worked as a Math coordinator/tutor with City Year New York, a non-profit organization that seeks to decrease the drop-out rate in inner-city schools. I was responsible for creating lesson plans that catered to each one of my focus list students' specific needs. Currently, I am tutor Math at Medgar Evers college and at a public high school.

I have a degree in Mathematics from Columbia University. I don't like doing anything halfway, and as a result, I give 100% to my students. I believe that my student's success is a reflection of my abilities. Tutoring students and seeing them grow and improve has been very fulfilling.

I believe anyone can become good at Math with practice and a dedicated tutor like myself.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
