About Jarrett

Ivy League graduate of Dartmouth College, where I majored in Political Science. I also graduated from Fordham University School of Law.

I have a real passion for helping others reach their educational goals. Upon graduation from Dartmouth, I worked as a public middle school, after-school program director. This opportunity enabled me to gain the necessary skills to effectively educate and mentor young people--including those with special learning needs. Moreover, I gained experience working with students to develop short and long-term academic goals.

I have the patience, temperament, and enthusiasm to tutor any age group!

I received the Fordham Law Writing Award, which is bestowed upon the student who attains the highest grade in their first-year writing class. In addition, I was a staff editor for the Fordham Environmental Law Review. I believe that my educational background uniquely qualifies me to assist children and adults improve their writing abilities. And based on my experience as a Political Science Major, I feel confident in helping others complete any type of academic writing assignment.

In addition to being a graduate of Fordham University School of Law, I have a great deal of experience working and interning in many different areas of the legal industry. Before law school, I worked for 1.5 years as a Compliance Analyst in the Anti-Money Laundering Department at Citigroup. Then, I worked as a law clerk at a NYC medical malpractice firm for 6 months. During law school, I interned at the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, and in the legal department of an investment management firm.

The combination of being a Political Science Major (with a focus in American Government) at Dartmouth College and a law school graduate has enabled me to develop a deeply comprehensive understanding of the intersection of politics, government, the law, and the criminal justice system.

If you're looking for a patient, friendly, nonjudgmental tutor with a stellar academic background, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I promise to respond quickly!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Basketball

I have a deep mastery and understanding of the sport of basketball. I was a four-year player and Captain of the Division One Men's Basketball Team at Dartmouth College. I was also a two-time MVP and captain of my high school basketball team. Being a Division One basketball player afforded me the experience and insight to understand what it takes to play the sport at a high level. In particular, I know many drills, techniques, and workouts that are key to being a successful player. And my tenure as a team captain at the high school and college level demonstrate that I have the temperament and ability to be a good role model and mentor to other aspiring athletes.

Criminal Justice

I was a Political Science Major at Dartmouth College. In addition, I am a recent graduate of Fordham University School Law. During law school, I interned at the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. In law school, I also took a seminar on public-interest lawyering, which centered on many relevant issues dealing with the United States criminal justice system.

Law

I received the Fordham Law Writing Award, which is bestowed upon the student who attains the highest grade in their first-year writing class. In addition, I was a staff editor for the Fordham Environmental Law Review. I believe that my educational background uniquely qualifies me to assist children and adults improve their writing abilities.
