Medgar Evers College (Elementary Rducation)

I have a passion to teach others and see them develop and grow. Through my years of teaching I have seen many students transform into budding academics. When I was eighteen years I had to make a career choice and I am happy that I chose teaching. My years of learning and teaching have made me develop and craft this skill.
I have studied Mathematics Education in college and this has given me additional skills in helping students love Mathematics at an early level and beyond. My Masters in Mathematics classes were geared to help me teach and let my students love math in a fun way. I love tutoring in all Elementary subjects because I believe that a good foundation is very important.
Grammar is very important not only to be a good English student, but to be an excellent student in all subjects. At an early age I started to learn Latin. I continued to study and learn it in High school. Latin helps anyone to be a good grammar student.
As an elementary teacher for many years I have studied many curriculum and know what students should learn at different levels. I am able to tell why a student is not succeeding at a certain level and try and give the appropriate help.
Handwriting is still a part of education. At some time or the other students will have to write. That is why I like to train students to write in such away that they can be identified as a success and not a failure.
At different times in the education system the way students were taught to read have changed. Some students were taught the 'Look and Say' method and no phonics. That has left many students struggling in their adult life unless there was a teacher who knew how to help him or her. I have developed a strategy that I have learned in college and from my own experience that have worked to help my students read at a very early age and to comprehend what was read.
I encourage students and adults to contact me for tutoring or homeschooling in all elementary subject areas: Pre K to Grade 4.
My rates are as follows:

Encourage your friends and relatives to join you in your quest for more knowledge. I will be happy to assist along this journey.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
