Bio

I consider myself a painter. Oil and gouache is choice-less and China Ink a devotion. I am a glass sculptor with a painter's mind. I am deeply interested and immersed in impermanence. The work on glass -being sculpture or the interventions that I do in the panels of the windows, creates new works when interacting with natural light, completely sporadic projections or semi static depending if is a natural or artificial light. The work on glass -being sculpture or the interventions that I do in the panels of the windows, creates new works when interacting with natural light, completely sporadic projections or semi static depending if is a natural or artificial light. In both cases, they creates a work external to the work itself. Am thrilled by that. If I can define is spiritual expressionist.

I work as an artist in residence with Studio at a public school and day care center around the five boroughs, some of my responsibilities include curriculum development, meeting principal and teachers to connect art with their curriculum, set program guidelines, and write unit plans. Training from leading professionals in the field is a my constant practice and resource to enrich not only myself but to add freshly guidance and support onto professional development workshops for teachers and the school community, coaching teachers to implement art as a daily practice and workshops for parents and children in public schools in the city are a very rewarding experience to promote art making exploration and an amazing way to reinforce the language of art between kids and their family.

As an artist my aim is the creative process itself, the internal and external discoveries. As a teacher, my intention is to offer this, the curiosity and the tools to explore it.

With love,
Lia
