About Alexander

I am a mechanical engineering graduate from Villanova University. I graduated with a 3.77 GPA and earned A's in all required math courses in the program. I tutored college level math courses for two years in Villanova's Math Learning Resource Center, and developed a love of math and teaching in my time there. I can tutor all levels of algebra, calculus, geometry and elementary math, as well as differential equations and physics. I didn't always love math, in fact I was bored by it and did not put much effort into it when I was in High School, so I understand the struggle to care about and dedicate yourself to a subject that can seem to have no relevance in your day-to-day life. However, once I started to really focus on my studies and understood the fundamentals of each topic and began to see how math is present everywhere in the world around us, doing math problems became fun and rewarding work.

You may never love math as much as I do, but as with anything in life, you will enjoy it more when you develop skills and understanding. As an engineer, my mind has been trained to solve problems using the tools available to me. This is how I see math problems, and how I will teach you to see them as well. Every type of problem, no matter how difficult, has a specific set of tools that allows you to solve it. All you need to do is recognize the type, and know what tools you need to use. Of course this is much easier said than done, and that's why I'm here to help.

I am very patient, and am a good fit for anyone looking for a focused session with a relaxed atmosphere. Not everyone is born to solve math problems, and growing frustrated with a struggling student for not understanding something quickly will only slow down the learning process. My job is complete when you understand the topic, and are confident in yourself and your ability to solve any problem that comes your way. You are smarter than you give yourself credit for, and once you realize that YOU CAN solve any problem, you will begin to thrive.

Please don't hesitate to contact me to discuss your goals and evaluate how good of a fit we are for each other. While the money is important to me, I will not mislead you into hiring me if I think you or your child needs more help than I can offer. In general, as long as you can promise an earnest effort on your end, we will be a good match. I look forward to hearing from you!

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
