About William

I'm a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. There, I majored in physics (with a concentration in astrophysics) and minored in Cinema Studies. I love learning and love getting others to share that same feeling. I'm not just a science lover, though, I also perform and write comedy, so I like to sneak in a few laughs per session.

In high school I received a 5 on my BC calculus, Chemistry, AP Physics B and C Exams, and I scored an 800 on both my Math and Physics SAT2s. I tutored fellow high school students in both Chemistry and Math, and I received my school's Physics B & C Awards and George Washington University Engineering Medal.

In college I was the head writer for the Mask and Wig club, a collegiate sketch and musical comedy troupe. This role (along with other leadership roles held within the organization) taught me a lot about mentoring and teaching people not much younger than myself. I am a firm believer that both mental and physical organization is a key to success in many different subjects, and is the first step in approaching a project.

I Majored in astrophysics at a prestigious university and have hands on experience working in an astrophysics lab. It was a small major and many of my classes were small and personal. It was that hands on, individualized experience that I appreciated and wish to share.

Math is an extremely crucial aspect of physics. One cannot learn Physics without understanding the mathematics behind the theory.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Physics

I majored in Physics at UPenn, got a 5 on my AP Physics B and C exams, an 800 on my Physics SAT2. I am used to helping my peers with Physics problem sets (both in high school and college). Even though it has been a long time since my high school physics days, I am a firm believer that physics is a subject, not of memorization, but of concepts, and that those are what truly stick with you.
