My tutoring experience first started when I had to do community service hours a couple of years back in a High School. Searching for where I would be able to do my mandated community service hours, I came across a tutoring program for children whom English was not a first language and children who struggled in school. As a student who took school extremely seriously and wanted to pursue a career in medicine, I did well with tutoring and teaching other individuals.
Automatically I feel in love with tutoring children, the ability to see an individual learn something new and apply it and do well in school was more satisfying than any other thing. I understood finally why teachers love their job. I loved that as a student myself and someone who not so long ago covered all this information, I am able to teach it in a more simplified way and relate everything to real life examples the children would understand.
After that point, I have volunteered with tutoring programs and organizations that needed tutors for people who are unable to pay for a tutor. Surprisingly a few mandated hours became something that I enjoy daily and I now dedicate more than 300 hours of my year to community service. Where plenty of those hours go to tutoring children from elementary school up till High School.
I think I grew to love tutoring children so much because you get to be a role model and influence the future generation of individuals. You get to see children come in where they do not understand a single thing and walk out with a huge smile on their face because they finally get it. It is amazing how people can go from hating a topic to loving it when they finally get it. As a current student, I get that feeling and frustration of not understanding something and how rewarding it is when you finally understand it. Some subjects and information just takes us a little more time to process. To conclude, education has been an important part of my life and I hope that every child makes it an important part of their life. As said by Nelson Mandela, Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
What makes me an outstanding elementary math tutor is the numerous amount of accelerated math courses I have taken and done well in but also because while in elementary, middle and high school I have always received a high grade in State and City examinations in math.
I am an outstanding science tutor because of my career in medicine so far and because I am a Biology and Chemistry major in undergraduate studies.
I have been part of story telling contests and essay contests which I have won successfully and throughout my educational career I have excelled in reading and writing and improved tremendously as a writer. I have also helped ESL students improve their reading comprehension skills in order to score well on tests.
What qualifies me as a outstanding elementary science tutor once again is my career path in medicine, my major but also the fact that throughout my entire education I have done outstanding in the sciences.
I hope that I am able to enhance your educational career. My tutoring experience first started when I had to do community service hours a couple of years back in a High School.
