About Philip

Economics taught badly makes many students feel that they do not understand the subject. I take a different approach and challenge students to demonstrate their knowledge without using jargon or over emphasizing math. Where math is needed, I develop techniques for students to learn that can easily be replicated in an exam setting.

I teach economics to high school students, undergraduate and graduate students. I love economics. Taught well, it can be a dynamic and interesting subject that helps to explain human behavior. The concepts can be abstract so I help students by making the material accessible and relevant to their daily lives.

I am encouraging to my students. I am patient and understanding and will try different approaches according to the learning ability of each student, which can be unique. I also help students with exam preparations and look for ways to remove the anxiety as much as possible by building confidence in the students' ability.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Economics

I majored in economics at undergraduate. I took economic policy during Masters at Columbia. I have worked as an economics tutor for graduate students at Columbia.

Explained complex topic Easily

Microeconomics is a hard subject to teach. Philip explained all the concepts with examples I could relate to and remember. I didn't feel lost taking my Final exam. I wouldn't have made it through so confidently without his help.
