About Michelle

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Michelle and I am currently a teacher in Brooklyn. I have had the opportunity to teach many different subjects including, Living Environment, anatomy, AP biology, algebra, online geometry, online English, and even physical education. Although I have taught many different classes I find that Living Environment and Algebra are my favorite. I have been teaching Living Environment for 4 years now and have the experience teaching the curriculum at an accelerated pace. I currently hold the highest regents passing rates at my school since I started. I have also helped tutor algebra for the regents in my school.

Tutoring is a great way for a teacher to continue her passion outside the normal school day. Tutoring allows individuals to take part in the best part of being a teacher, teaching! I have found that I have the ability to work with students of various backgrounds. I have experience working with students of various learning styles and needs. I have taught all students from special needs all the way up to AP students. Each student requires a different set of skills and it's my job to figure out exactly what you need!

Math is all about understanding ways to attack a problem. I find that I am very successful in tutoring math because I have several different ways of explaining and teaching the same problem. Each student learns differently, so a good tutor has a big bag of tricks.

I have spent long hours analyzing years of regents exams. I have also had the opportunity to grade regents exams for the past 4 years. This gives me insight on what students normally get wrong or struggle with. Because of this I am able to tailor the students learning to best fit their needs and prevent them from making common mistakes.

I am a fun an energetic person. I love teaching and can make even the most difficult subjects enjoyable and understandable. It all starts with the teacher!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra 1 and 2 in high school. I also had the opportunity to teach advanced algebra on an online platform. I have been tutoring math since I was in high school and work closely with students preparing for the Regents.

Biology

I currently hold a bachelors degree in biology and teach both Biology and AP Biology.
