Hello and nice to meet you! I hope we get the chance to work together. If you are interested in visual art you have come to the right tutor. Art has been my passion since I was a child and I have pursued it throughout my life. I am naturally talented, but I have also put in hard work and dedication to become the artist I am today. I was so inspired by my own teachers and what the arts have offered me that I went back to graduate school to study art education. Now I have a BA in Studio Art and a MA in Art Education.
I am experienced in drawing, painting (oil/acrylic/spray), and sculpture mostly and love to teach these mediums. Aside from art making I love to discuss contemporary art and art history. Additionally we can delve into topics such as visual culture and society, street art and ethics, environmental and recycled art, and so much more.
I have created large sculptures with wood and found materials, and I paint oil paintings and create mixed media works and drawings. As a teacher, my students have painted large murals, made recycled art, created paintings and sculptures of their own as well. I have taught art while a Peace Corps volunteer in Peru, and to kids of all ages in museums, after-school programs, and community centers. I also taught many art history concepts and art lessons to college students. My experiences are vast which is why I have learned to be so flexible and easy to work with.
I am eager to learn about your and what your interests are so I can tailor my lessons to best suit your needs. I love keeping you engaged and watching you become inspired. We will expand our horizons and learn art facts, and become more creative individuals together! Hello and nice to meet you! I hope we get the chance to work together. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I began taking formal drawing classes outside of my high school art class at the Academy of Art University of San Francisco while in high school. In college I took life drawing and drawing 101 at UC Santa Cruz and continued to draw throughout college. My BA is in Studio Arts.
