About Talia

I believe that it is the teacher's responsibility to help a student learn. In order to accomplish this, I create individualized plans to help a student, ask for a student's input, and I also am able to guide students toward helpful academic behaviors. I have training in skill building and changing habits.

I am a writer in my soul and always have been, and I am currently a candidate in an MFA program in Creative Nonfiction. I am also an experienced teacher. I taught creative writing seminars for Harlem Children's Zone and I designed the seminar curricula. Often a curriculum would combine several disciplines, writing and history, for example. I love writing and I love teaching writing. I have taught middle school students and high school students, and I have tutored elementary school students.

That's enough of the academic credentials--- I am also fun-loving and creative. I love ice cream, podcasts, and spending time with my family.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
