I'm also currently working as an educator for the NYC Department of Health giving nutrition lessons and cooking demonstrations at farmer's markets. I've working for years as a cooking class assistant in recreational cooking classes, so I feel I have a good basis for how to help both beginner and experienced cooking students improve their skills. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a Bachelor's in Biology from SUNY Geneseo and am currently completing coursework towards a Master's In Nutrition as well as completing coursework that's part of an accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics at Brooklyn College. My current GPA is 4.0.
I have completed the following relevant coursework at the undergraduate level: Institutional Food Service Management; Principles of Microbiology with laboratory; Human Physiology; Cell Biology; Food Science with laboratory; Principles of Genetics; Organization, Administration, and Supervision of Health Services; Organic Chemistry with laboratory (2 semesters); Nutritional Biochemistry; General Chemistry with laboratory (2 semesters); Human Nutrition; and General Biology with laboratory ( 2 semesters).
