About Brittany

Hey there! I'm Brittany and currently I am pursuing my masters at New York University, studying International Relations with concentrations in human rights and international law. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May of 2015 with degrees in International Relations and Hispanic Studies (Spanish); I also minored in European Studies. International Relations is my passion and I love to share it with others (be it students that I'm tutoring or my roommates!) Studying International Relations has required me to have extensive backgrounds in world history, government, politics, economics, geography, all major world religions, and sociology. Almost equal to my passion for International Relations is the Spanish language. I am proficient and have studied the language for over 11 years now; at one point I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Spain at la Universidad de Cantabria in Santander.

In the past, I have tutored elementary students to high school students in subjects including language arts, writing, and mathematics. I have helped students realize their potential in one-on-one weekly sessions that culminated in their passing their annual state-mandated exams. I have always excelled at the math and sciences, specifically. In fact, my favorite courses at UT were my 3 Calculus courses. For 2 years, I focused much of my coursework on Computer Science/Computer Programming and gained a working knowledge of Java.

I would love the opportunity to tutor you or your child- whether it be to catch up on a subject, prepare for a test, or to get ahead. I also love talking with students about how to prepare for that next step in life- applying for college, applying for internships/jobs, or applying for graduate school! Please feel free to contact me at any time- my schedule is incredibly flexible and I do not at all mind meeting students in a location that is most convenient for them! I hope to hear from you!!!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing

From January 2015 to August 2015, I acted as a legislative research intern with Vote Smart, a non-partisan organization that aims to inform voters. On a daily basis, I drafted and edited summaries of state and national bill texts. I was repeatedly complemented by my superiors for my attention to detail.
