With my artistic talents I've been able to work with special needs children, ages ranging from 3 to 5, helping them to use any knowledge they may have about arts and crafts. Sometimes the child gets distracted looking at what other children are doing, I redirect them and have the child focus on what he/she is doing. Once the child focuses on their work, it shows, that they done a great job, and the child feels proud. When the child feels proud, and they show their parents, parents feel proud also.
I studied art at Pratt Phoenix School of Design, graduated with a Associates Degree (AOS)in Illustration. Several years later, I went back to school, studied at School of Visual Arts, and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Art degree (BFA).
As a part of my most recent job as a Paraprofessional, at Brooklyn Prospect Charter School, I did portraits of few 6th and 7th grade students. They said, "You are awesome, that looks just like me," describing their pictures. A video of the portraits and the students' responses are available upon request. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
