New York University (Studio Art)
I have been working with children ages 5-18 for the past seven years in myriad capacities. I taught art at The Nightingale-Bamford School's summer programming, privately tutored middle and high schoolers in nearly every subject imaginable, have been a nanny to two growing boys, and mentored high school students in social entrepreneurship. As an artist, my work has been exhibited internationally, and covered by the New York Times, ArtInfo, Vulture, Marina Abramovic Institute, and Fast Company, among others. I have lectured at universities, conferences, and institutions about my collaborative work.
While I primarily identify as an artist and writer, I have worn many hats in my 25 years. I have studied abroad in Italy (AFS), Peru (Rotary International), Ghana (NYU), and Cuba (Tisch Special Programs). As a graduate of NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, I view academics with a rigorous multidisciplinary perspective and am intent on continuing to educate myself. I worked as a cheesemaker on an organic goat farm in Northern California, and attended culinary school in South America. I am a certified coach and use an active approach and vocabulary in my time with people of all ages to encourage growth and manifestation. Open-mindedness and strategic planning are integral parts of my approach to education. All of these experiences have been channeled into a passion for supporting people manifest what they envision. I am kind, patient, and positive when working with students. I look forward to dreaming with you or your student! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied Studio Art with a concentration in Photography at NYU. I have particular emphasis on analog film photography (particularly with large format cameras), and dark room printing (with a specialty in c-prints). I actively work with digital cameras as well and use my Canon 6D. My photography has been exhibited in the International Photography Festival and shown in galleries in China, Cuba, Greece, NYC, San Francisco, and LA.
