About Jason

My name is Jason and I am an organized, enthusiastic, and flexible instructor in English reading, writing, speaking and literature. I work as an adjunct lecturer in English at Brooklyn College. In addition to my work in higher education, I teach writing to elementary and middle school students and SAT Preparation in English to high school students. I have used both the College Board and Cambridge SAT Victory materials to instruct students in effective strategies for taking the SAT and I scored within the top 7 percentile. My test taking strategies work.

Before moving to New York, I taught English in Korea for three years. Teaching abroad developed my interpersonal and intercultural communication skills and sharpened my ability to communicate concepts to non-native speakers and learners of various ages and with various levels of language fluency. During my three years in that position, I used a variety of instructional technologies, created engaging learning material, and partnered with administrators to enrich the academic environment of the school. Alongside my teaching work, I have experience in professional writing and social media. This December, I expect to graduate from Brooklyn College with an M.A. in English.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
