I have always had a passion for sports. Ever since I was younger it was always my brother, cousins, friends outside playing any different sport we could until it got dark. Then when we had to split up we would watch sports on television until we fell asleep and then start all over again the next day.
As I got older, basketball appealed to me more than any other sport. I loved everything about the game. Up until recently basketball has led me to next passion, which is teaching. Becoming an assistant basketball coach at local high school has allowed me to not only work with student athletes on the court, but also work with them in a classroom setting as well.
Being a substitute teacher in the Waterford Public School system (CT) has allowed me to realize how important education is and why students shouldn't take it for granted. That is why I hope to teach students in the sports aspect, but also other subjects as well. I graduated cum laude from Clark University in 2012, where I also received my Master's there in 2013.
I will stop at nothing to make sure the lesson is taught in a way where the child can understand it, and then implement it when I am not there. I will pride myself on being prepared for every session and making sure that the time that is spent will be effective and efficient. As a former athlete, I am always trying to improve. Therefore I always encourage feedback to make sure that the tutoring experience for both students and parents are great.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me! I have always had a passion for sports. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have coached basketball at the high school and AAU level last year. On top of that, this summer I interned at Impact Basketball Academy in Florida, where I did player development work. Here I would conduct on-court workouts with players depending on their age level, position and skill. Recently, I also landed a game-day job with the Brooklyn Nets.
