New York University- Tisch School of the Arts (Drama)
My name is Jamie and I am a NYU Tisch School of The Arts graduate. I have spent the past four years teaching drama to kids. Some of my specialties are monologue coaching for High School and College Auditions as well as storytelling/clowning/puppetry/yoga. I have worked with both private students as well as various non-profits as a Teaching Artist. Some of the organizations I have worked with are Coalition for Hispanic Family Services Arts and Literacy after school program, Young Players Theatre and Zara Aina, a non-profit that creates original theater with at risk middle school children in Madagascar, where I traveled for the inaugural trip.
Working one on one with kids is always a new and wonderful experience. Since each student is unique, each session that I create for them is a unique experience. I quickly notice their strengths and weaknesses and know how to work on those in a positive, exciting, uplifting way. I am extremely patient and interested in adapting based on each individuals needs. I am interested in each student's opinion and believe that learning forms out of a thoughtful, thorough conversation. Please contact me if you would like a fun, kind, artistic approach to academics as well as the arts. My name is Jamie and I am a NYU Tisch School of The Arts graduate. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned a BFA in acting at NYU Tisch where I studied various acting techniques. Some of those are Stanford Meisner, Stella Adler, Alexander Technique, Viewpoints, Jerzey Grotowski and Michael Chekhov. I also studied experimental theater in Amsterdam. I have been teaching those techniques along with clowning, puppetry and storytelling for the past 4 years ages 4-14.
