As a native French speaker and educator more than 25 years experience in teaching and tutoring, I believe my knowledge of both subject and students will be a great asset to any student. I am an effective tutor because I focus on student learning and utilize and adjust my teaching strategies and instructions to match the abilities and the knowledge of my student. My goal is to foster critical thinking, to promote mastery of course content, and to encourage application of course material to real world context. High standards of organization, planning, and my constant use of assessment allow me to facilitate growth and learning. My philosophy prepares student to be global citizens. Students must study not only grammar, vocabulary and sentence structures, but must be able to communicate with confidence through speaking and listening. I received my Masters with Honors from Pace University New York City and had become a Kappa Delta Pi member an International Honor Society in Education and my Undergraduate from Teachers' Training College of Senegal, former capital of the French colonies till 1960. As a son of school teacher of French too, principal, and diplomat, I was swimming into the water of French academia and knowledge. Patience, passion, work ethics, enthusiasm, and knowledge of my subject are the pillars of my success in teaching French language and literature. I truly believe that knowledge gained through active participation is knowledge that will stay with an individual. I encourage students to ask questions and give their views on the material we are covering. My goal is to assist and inspire my student to use their intellectual, to become more confident, and to reach their goal.

Martial Arts

I received my Black Belt 25 years ago with Honors. As part of the University of Dakar/Senegal, the dojo (place to practice), I practiced Shotokan, Japaneze style, 3 times a week and trained the beginners on Saturday. As a school teacher with strong psychology and positive communication skills, I developed my philosophy of teaching Martial Arts. Because of those experiences, I am confident I am an asset in the life of any martial artist beginner.
