Passion drives me and my passion to help others drives me even more. Hard work and determination is what has gotten me where I am, and believe me it can help get you where you want to be also. Although my passion is in English I am well rounded in many subjects. I have been published in two poetry books and am a member of Alpha Chi and Sigma Tau Delta. I graduated from undergraduate school with a 3.45 GPA in Psychology and English and from graduate school with a 3.58 GPA in English.
Over the years I have helped my nephew, cousins, friends, and students with their classwork and homework. Helping someone understand their assignment is very important to me. I have come to realize that not everyone learns in the same way and I am adaptable. Whatever you need in order to learn whether it’s by coming up with learning games, or getting a group together I’m willing to try and figure out what works best for you.
I can work with all ages, but young children and late teens are what I am used to. Exposing children to different ways of thinking and learning is very important. Just a keeping someone’s attention during the learning process is important. I can remember helping my nephew when he was in second and third grade and him needing extra attention because he was diagnosed with ADHD very early on. Keeping his attention was hard in the beginning, but coming up with ways to keep his attention while teaching him was a learning experience for both of us.
The drive to succeed is very important, just as wanting to learn is important. Each time we meet will be interesting and a learning experience that won’t feel like being stuck in a classroom. We can go over topics from previous meetings. As time goes on I will make assessments to see what areas still need work and what areas there have been improvements. I also will ask for feedback as to what you the student or parent feels need to be worked on.
Depending on what you need help with there will also be quizzes, homework, and assessments. Your growth is my success and there will be no failures as long as we both put our best into learning and growing. Learning is growing and we all need growth to get anywhere in life. I know that sounds very cliché but that’s what I believe. Life and learning is all about growing and growing is all about learning.
In case it hasn’t been noticeable yet I have a love for learning that I hope to be able to pass on to others. While I am flexible I do have a 12 hour policy although I understand that things do happen. Missed sessions can be made up. We can have sessions at your home or at my home wherever you feel comfortable or convenient for you.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you in whatever area you need help in. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I will reply to all inquiries as soon as possible. Even if I am not a match for you I hope you find a tutor that can help you with whatever areas you need tutoring in.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
