My tutoring experience includes:
* AutoCAD with high school and college students.
* Basic Mathematics with multiple students ranging from 6th to 8th grade.
* Algebra 1 with a 9th grade student.
* Geometry with a 10th grade student.
* Microsoft Excel with college students.
* Basic Microsoft Access with college students.
* Microsoft PowerPoint slide construction with college students.
* Basic Accounting with a college student.

Other experience:
* During college and at work, I assisted in resolving almost all computer software questions, issues, and concerns.
* Throughout my academic and professional career, I have utilized AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
* During my spare time, I have learned HTML, JavaScript, etc, but am still perfected my JavaScript knowledge. I am also trying to learn Python and Ruby.

Although math is a subject I'm good at, my skills in explaining a subject are most adequate for tutoring Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. I'm improving, but still in the process of honing on perfecting and developing my articulating skills with students 17 and older.

I am very "versatile" and great at multi-tasking; while pursuing my degree, I worked at a paid internship for a utility company and at a restaurant (Cosi Inc.) working multiple functions, and as an "in call" assistant to the principal of a small company.

I am a hard worker and I try to do everything to 100% best of my ability.

Additionally, I am great with children and the elderly.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have taken this test in High School. I successfully passed it and was accepted into the college of my choice. Tutoring in this subject is all about time more than the subject. Being able to comprehend and manage your time for these tests is important, and would generally be the format I would tutor this subject in.

ACT Math

I took this test in High School. I passed the exam and was accepted into the college of my choice. My recommended method for this test is to provide exams, grade, and review what is understood. Generally, understanding the process of thinking when solving a math problem helps the student to gear their test taking toward their strong points and master them. After mastering that, students are timed and retested.

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign is a software program that I have used for 4 years.

Adobe Photoshop

While in Architecture, I used Photoshop to clean up and edit my photos in my portfolio. I took at least 3 semesters of Architecture in college. Additionally, I use it for editing other graphics leisurely.

Algebra 1

The highest level of mathematics that I have completed are Differential Equations and Multi-variable Calculus. Algebra was one of the few courses in math I enjoyed.

Algebra 2

Math by far was one of my best subjects. As an engineer, I went on to Multivariable Calculus/ Differential Equations and have refined my math skills even more.

Additionally, I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 for 2-3 years, and recently have expanded to tutoring Geometry, Trigonometry, and ACT/SAT Math so I can carry my students through high school. I don't prefer to tutor those subjects, but I find it helps parents and child to maintain one math tutor for their academic career.

AutoCAD

I was an AutoCAD tutor for 4 months. I practiced 4 semesters of AutoCAD while in Architecture school (2 semesters) and Engineering school (2 semesters). I worked with 2 variations of AutoCAD professionally for 2.5 years.

Drawing

Drawing is something that I have done for the last 29-30 years. From contour drawing to gradient shading, to the proper uses of HB, 4B, 4H to charcoal, tempura paint, art has been a long time passion of mine and I would love to be able to aid someone with the same passion in creating the same art I do. I rarely draw abstract art as figure and life scenes tend to be my favorite. I also love creating self portrait of my self throughout different stages of my life. Unlike still life, self portraits are a little difficult because your subject is never in the same position so a healthy imagination/memory and creative thinking is heavily used.

Elementary Math

I have a great basic understanding of math. I have advanced quickly because of this that from my freshman year, my high school math track was already advanced and lead me to Calculus by my senior year, without additional Summer coursework. Additionally, I took other math courses unrelated to my major because I love the concept behind mathematics.

Elementary Science

I was in the honor roll in grade school. My grades in science were always an A. Additionally, I was in Honors Conceptual Physics, Honors Biology, and Honors Chemistry throughout High School.

Fortran

I programmed in ForTran in College. It's my most basic computer language. ForTran is a programming language no longer commonly used, but it is the basis of many computer languages. I have used it on a very limited basis, but I believe if you learn Fortran and program it successfully you can program in many of the other programming languages. Fortran has many more restrictions in its basic program than any other programming language I know. It has helped me to proofread coding programs from Visual Basic, HTML, SQL, Python, JavaScript, etc. Although not used, it is a great language to teach and begin programming in.

Mechanical Engineering

I hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I work in the field of Mechanical engineer in a Utility company. I also have graduate course work short of a thesis for a Masters of Science in Energy Management.

Microsoft Excel

My Excel skills extend from generating pivot tables and charts to running raw data, to utilizing goal seek with Excel functions and producing a desired constant. Additional, knowledge with Excel is for sorting, formatting, and creating forms.

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Outlook for as long as I can remember. I often use it a lot at work. I understand most if not all of Outlook's capabilities, which include but are not limited to archiving, and creating offline files using the .pst files, as well as retrieving lost archived files through a scanpst file. It's a simple program, but has many unused capabilities that can make using it tailored to each individual for their specific needs.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Throughout my college career as both an Architecture major and a Mechanical Engineering graduate student, I have had to present many presentations. It is from this that I have been able to enhance my skills in creating slides. Additionally, I have tutored in this subject.

Microsoft Windows

Since the 90's I have always utilized a PC. I was in the computer club, when I was in grade school, and have owned Compaq's, Dell's, HP's, and Lenovo's. There are many other PC's but they all general work the same, and all utilize a Microsoft Windows Operating System, which I'm proficient in. I use MS-DOS when the Graphical User Interface for some folders aren't retrievable. But in addition to those features, every Windows is different. I am only proficient in the following: XP, and 98. I am slowly familiarizing myself with Windows 7.

Microsoft Word

From Corel WordPerfect to MicroSoft Word, many word processors are the same, and I have used both. But from 1997 onward, I have limited my use to MicroSoft Word and have become very proficient at its use. My experience comes from many 50 page paper reports, resume writing, and work in general. I have also tutored in this subject.

Physical Science

I have an Associate of Arts Degree in General Science.

Prealgebra

I have taken Pre-Algebra in the 8th Grade, and have practice more advanced mathematics from high school through college.

Spelling

I participated in the spelling bee twice in grade school. I went pretty high, but "refrigerator" stumped me. Since then, have made it my mission to spell correctly. I spell much better now that I did in grade school (even without spell check).

Very thorough and knowledgeable

In the very first lesson, Sherlydean was able to assessed my daughter's strengths and weaknesses and help build her confidence. We're looking forward to working with her on future lessons.
